About this show:
SMaRT Sustainable Products Standard
SMaRT (Sustainable Materials Rating Technology) is a comprehensive, Sustainable Standard covering all commercial and consumer products except cars and airplanes. Its purpose, as defined over 5 years of consensus-based development, is to stop the pollution of air, water, earth and atmosphere.SMaRT was created in response to the need for quantifiable and verifiable Sustainable Standards, The standard is based on product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) across the product's entire supply chain. Once documentation is gathered, Third Party Auditors review it for accuracy before certification is issued. The videos on this site cover the  issues of how SMaRT was formed and why its development was necessary for city officials, manufacturers, designers, investors and the public at large. The Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability (MTS) is behind the development of SMaRT. MTS a non-profit public charity of leading environmental groups, governments, financial groups, and companies working to achieve 90% sustainable products market penetration and stop irreversible climate change, by 2015.
